Alleged Rigging Case: Trump’s allies arrested.
A number of Trump’s allies have been arrested after the verdict of the former US President Donald Trump’s team’s claim of fraud in the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state of Georgia.
Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis, Trump’s former lawyers, along with six other members of the former US president’s legal and election team, surrendered to a prison in Atlanta on Wednesday evening.
According to American media, Fulton District Attorney Fannie Willis said last week that after Trump’s defeat in the 2020 presidential election, she and seventeen members of his campaign team carried out a massive conspiracy to subvert the will of voters in the state.
The bail set for Giuliani’s release from prison was set at $150,000, which was the second highest bail in this case after the $200,000 bail for Trump. He and eight other defendants are currently free on bail.
According to the indictment, Giuliani and the other defendants are charged with crimes such as directing Trump’s efforts to force lawmakers in Georgia and other contested states to ignore the will of voters, making false statements about elections in Georgia, and helping to orchestrate voting equipment tampering.
Georgia was one of several key states that Trump narrowly lost, prompting him and his allies to claim without evidence that the election was rigged in favor of his Democratic rival, Joe Biden.
The former president of the United States had previously said that he would submit himself to the prison of this state at the end of this week on the charge of election interference in Georgia.
