“The insulting remarks made against Algeria are unacceptable and rejected,” Algerian Prime Minister Ayman bin Abdel Rahman said Monday, referring to recent remarks by French President Emmanuel Macron.
In a recent statement, Macron questioned the existence of the Algerian people before French colonization, saying that the political system in Algeria had rewritten the country’s history out of hatred of France, according to Russia Today.
During his visit to the city of Oran, the Algerian Prime Minister emphasized: “Algeria is bigger than all the statements made in order to undermine its history and roots.”
“Algeria is a people and a nation that stands out and shines in history … Ask Massinisa and Prince Abdul Qadir about the history of this land,” he said.
