Algerian Army addresses Macron: Apologize for your colonial past.
The Algerian Army magazine on Saturday published a note attacking French colonial policies, stressing that there is no difference between French politicians.
“There is no difference between left and right in France,” Algeria Al-Youm reported. Because “all of them consider the Algerian army and people as their stubborn enemy.”
French President Emmanuel Macron recently made statements against the history of Algeria. “The president of France does not know history because of the education he received in French schools,” the memo said.
The report stressed that Macron’s remarks about Algeria’s history were “an attempt to cover up his political failure in governing the country.”
“We tell all those who are the enemy of Algeria that if you can not get rid of your colonial past in our country, the cure for this pain is an apology or at least silence,” the magazine, which is the official spokesman for the Algerian army.
According to the report, some of the new colonialists claim that the Algerian people did not exist before the French occupation in order to provoke extremist sentiments and justify their heinous colonial crimes.
The report implicitly refers to the French as “historical and traditional enemies” who “intend to undermine the determination of the Algerian people or to question their civilization and struggles.”
The Algerian military noted that there are efforts to destroy the relationship between the Algerian people and its history, but “the history of Algeria and the November Revolution will forever be a thorn in their side.”
