“Algerian police have arrested 22 people on suspicion of involvement in the fires, with Rashad and Al-Mak being the main culprits,” the Algerian presidential statement was quoted as saying by Reuters. .
The statement added: “Al-Mak group is supported by foreign parties, especially the Maghreb and the Zionist regime.”
Last Thursday, Algerian President Abdel Majid Taboun announced the arrest of 22 suspects in forest fires in several provinces.
Algeria announced yesterday (Wednesday) that after controlling seven fires in the past 24 hours, it has managed to take control of all forest fires across the country; But the fires killed 69 people, including 28 soldiers.
The Algerian Interior Ministry’s civil defense said in a statement that seven forest fires were contained in six provinces with the intervention of civil protection forces.
The fires were contained in Ain al-Dufli, Belida, Baja’i, Latif and Khanchla, one each and two others in Jigal.
