The anti-war activist committee in Britain stressed that al-Hashd al-Shabi is a major power in Iraq that wants to oust the American occupiers from its country and thwart the US plan to divide Iraq.
According to a News Agency, Sami al-Ramadani, a member of the Stop the War Coalition committee based in London, said that al-Hashd al-Shabi is the main power in Iraq that wants to oust the American occupiers from the country. He has contributed with all his might to the defeat of ISIS in Iraq.
Al-Ramadani told Russia’s Sputnik news agency that the situation in Iraq was still closely linked to the invasion and occupation of Iraq in 2003, in which more than one million Iraqis lost their lives. Iraq’s infrastructure and economy were also destroyed by this war.
He added: “What made the situation worse is that the United States, in order to maintain its presence in Iraq at all levels of social, economic and security, took action to destroy Iraq, that is, did everything to continue the occupation instead of rebuilding it. The reason for this was the continuation of the occupation, which, of course, played a major role in the US presence in Iraq in 2011.
Stop the war committee member added: “But the US withdrawal from Iraq paved the way for the strengthening of the anti-occupation and pro-independence forces in Iraq, and thus the US lost its full control over Iraq.”
Al-Ramezani said: “After that, terrorism returned to Iraq in 2014 with the support of the United States, and ISIS emerged. The terrorist group, with the help of some local forces in Mosul, also occupied parts of the Iraqi Kurdistan region led by Barzani, and thus ISIS was able to occupy one-third of Iraqi territory.
He added that US policy in Iraq after the occupation, and especially after the withdrawal of most of its forces from Iraq, focused on implementing the Biden plan, which was to divide Iraq on the basis of ethnic-religious principles for Kurds, Sunnis, and Shiites. And tensions continue between the various communities of this country; Therefore, it must be said that Biden will maintain US bases in Iraq and intervention in this country, and will make Iraq a base for attacking Iran.
Al-Ramadani said one of the most important factors to be emphasized in Iraqi politics today is the emergence of a major contradiction between the US presence and its influence in Iraq and the emergence of al-Hashd al-Shabi units, a very large military force inside Iraq led by ISIL. And defeated it and liberated the occupied territories of Iraq. These forces are definitely anti-American.
Pointing out that the reason for al-Hashd al-Shabi being accused of loyalty to Iran was the organization’s attempt to withdraw the occupying forces from Iraq, he said: “This accusation is certainly wrong; Perhaps some groups are allies with Iran; But they are rooted in Iraqi politics and history. They are a real power in Iraq who fought with all their might to defeat ISIS and want American troops to leave their country.
