Afghanistan is at the top of Asian countries in terms of maternal mortality
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees says that Afghanistan has the highest maternal mortality rate among other Asian countries.
According to the regional office of Tasnim news agency, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees says that Afghanistan has the highest rate of maternal mortality among Asian countries.
In a tweet published on Sunday, this UN agency says that to reduce this number, it has trained non-professional midwives in remote areas of Afghanistan so that women have better access to childbearing services.
The United Nations Population Fund said a while ago that during the last two decades, maternal deaths per 100,000 births had decreased from 1,450 to 638 cases.
According to this institution, based on estimates, from 2022 to 2025, 51 thousand women may die during childbirth due to the economic crisis and the inefficiency of the health system, and 4.8 cases of pregnancy may occur.
The monitoring of international institutions called the situation of Afghanistan’s health system unfavorable and predicts that the lack of female doctors will be one of the main challenges of the country’s health system in the future.
