The Associated Press today (Wednesday) quoted Yemeni officials as saying that Rasha Abdalla, a Yemeni woman journalist working for the UAE-based Al-Sharq satellite network, was pregnant.
The journalist and his son Javad were killed in the blast, and his wife, Mahmoud al-Attomy, who was also a journalist, was seriously injured and taken to hospital.
No group has claimed responsibility for yesterday’s attack. Aden-based officials said an investigation had been launched.
The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a family of Yemeni journalists who were visiting a doctor, officials said.
Yemeni Prime Minister Moin Abdul Malik called the blast a terrorist act. Three passers-by were also injured in the blast.
The coastal city of Aden has witnessed several explosions in recent years by terrorist groups al-Qaeda and ISIS.
Last month, at least eight people were killed when a car bomb exploded near a security checkpoint outside Aden Airport in the Khor Maksar area, but no group has claimed responsibility.
The port city of Aden in southern Yemen has seen a number of military clashes in recent years due to its occupation by forces of the resigned and fugitive Yemeni government led by the Saudi-led Arab-American coalition.
