A second shipment of US weapons arrived in Ukraine.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexei Raznikov announced on Sunday that the country had received a second shipment of weapons from the United States as part of Washington’s $ 200 million in military aid.
The United States has said it will continue to support Kiev amid concerns about the presence of tens of thousands of Russian troops on Ukraine’s border, IRNA reported on Sunday, according to Reuters.
“We have received the second shipment of 80 tons to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities from American friends,” the Ukrainian defense minister wrote on his Twitter account. This is not the end.
The United States also sent a 90-ton shipment of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine yesterday.
The United States is scheduled to send several shipments of weapons to Ukraine, which was approved by US President Joe Biden in December 2021.
Last year, the United States sent $ 650 million worth of weapons and military equipment to Ukraine, which is the highest figure in a year since the start of military aid to Ukraine in 2014.
Some other countries have begun the process of transferring weapons to Ukraine. On Monday, Britain announced that it would send light and light weapons to Ukraine and that it would send a small number of troops to provide training.
In November, Britain also signed an agreement with the Kiev government to build eight new warships, including minefields for the Ukrainian navy.
The West has accused Russia of meddling in Ukraine’s internal affairs. Moscow denies this claim to the West. In recent months, NATO-Russia relations have been strained by Western claims of Russian military alignment along Ukraine’s borders.
US-Western relations with Russia have been strained since 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.
