A new round of talks between Tehran and Riyadh will be held in Baghdad in the near future.
In a conversation with Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani announced the imminent holding of a new round of negotiations between Iran and Saudi Arabia hosted by Baghdad.
In response to a question about the new round of consultations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, Al-Sudani said: The new round of these talks will be held soon, we are trying to continue these relations since the beginning of the government’s work and according to the request of Tehran and Riyadh.
He added: We consider these relations necessary because the closer the different views in the region get to each other, the more stability will be created.
Emphasizing that Baghdad continues to play a role in these talks, Al-Sudani expressed hope that the level of security meetings between Tehran and Riyadh will be raised to the diplomatic level.
The Prime Minister of Iraq added: Consultations and calls to prepare these meetings continue and these meetings are held at some levels, but we want their level to be improved. Our goal is to raise the level of the meeting of security officials to the level of diplomatic relations.
In response to the question whether he will personally participate in these meetings, he said: Yes, I will personally follow up on the issue.
