A call to collect 6 million illegal weapons in France with the promise of amnesty.
France’s “Le Nouvelle” information site announced that, based on the government’s call, owners of illegal weapons will receive amnesty from yesterday (Friday) if they declare and hand over their weapons.
The French Ministry of Interior, which is the initiator of this plan, has estimated the number of illegal weapons in this country to be 6 million. Owners of illegal weapons can surrender their weapons at 300 designated government centers and avoid punishment until next Friday (December 2).
The French Ministry of the Interior said that the purpose of this project is not to track the weapons in the hands of criminals, but to collect weapons in the hands of “ordinary people” who have firearms or cold weapons dropped in their homes or someone has given them a weapon.
The head of the arms and ammunition department of the Ministry of Interior stated that one of the goals of this plan is to prevent theft and transfer of undeclared weapons, as well as to prevent domestic accidents caused by the presence of weapons in the house. The call of the Ministry of Interior includes any type of weapon, including knives, daggers, swords, and historical weapons that are kept in the form of a collection.
