70 extremist missionary websites blocked in Kyrgyzstan.
According to the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry, 70 extremist websites have been blocked in the country over the past 10 months.
Manas Amanbayev, Kyrgyz Interior Ministry’s counter-extremism officer, told a panel on “Human Rights in the Fight against Terrorism and Extremism” in Bishkek that the fight against illegal social media activities threatens the country’s security. Over the past 10 months, 70 extremist websites and 10 accounts have been blocked in Kyrgyzstan.
He said: “Women and youth have the most participation in this field, we hope we can put them on the right track because they play an important role in the future and security of the country.”
Amanbayev also blamed ignorance, lack of information on religion and socio-economic problems for the emergence and temptation of such organizations, adding: “We are now trying to provide information to young people.”
It is worth mentioning that in this roundtable, the issue of non-pressure access of female students to schools with hijab was raised.
Restricting the educational rights of girls who wear headscarves can lead to extremist activities, according to Eliana Sattarava, editor of Emmett magazine.
It should be noted that Kyrgyz President Sadir Jabarov noted at a recent press conference that female students have the right to wear headscarves in schools, and that religious education programs should be implemented in schools in the future to prevent religious extremism.
