7 Arab countries protested the Zionist regime’s membership in the African Union.
Seven Arab-African countries have formally protested the unilateral decision of the African Union High Commissioner to grant the post of “observer member” to the Zionist regime in the union.
Seven African Arab countries officially protested on Tuesday (August 3rd) the decision of the head of the African Union Commissioner Musa Faki Muhammad to grant the position of “observer member” to the Zionist regime in the union and accept the credentials of the ambassador of this regime.
According to Arabi Al-Jadeed, the embassies of seven Arab countries sent their protest letter, which dates back to yesterday, to the UNHCR. These seven countries are: Mauritania, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, the Algerian archipelago (Comoros) and Djibouti.
These countries expressed their opposition to the action of the President of the African Union Commissioner on July 22 on political and sensitive issues; “It’s an issue that needs to be decided at the highest levels of decision-making in the African Union. For a long time, there have been clear provisions that express the firm support of the Palestinian cause and the condemnation of all Israeli actions against the Palestinian nation-friend and brother. “This decision runs counter to the highest interests of the African Union, its values, patterns and rules.”
They also lamented that the African Union High Commissioner for Refugees did not respond to Israel’s request in the manner of officials before him. Behavior that should be based on the principles and objectives set out in the Statute of the African Union, the rules of the various services of the Union, the highest interests of the organization, the views and concerns of the member states.
They also declared that Musa Faki’s decision was an unacceptable administrative and political violation and violated the standards of the African Union observer status and accreditation system adopted by the Executive Council in July 2005.
The seven countries, through their embassies in Addis Ababa, the headquarters of the African Union, also protested the action of the head of the African Union Commissioner to accept the credentials of the Israeli ambassador and demanded that this issue be included in the agenda of the next meeting of the Executive Council.
Al-Arabi Jadid wrote in a note yesterday examining how Israel’s membership in the African Union wrote: “Israel, after 19 years of failing to join the African Union, which replaced the Organization of African Unity and in which Israel had an observer position, has finally been able to do so again.” He will take office on July 22. This was done according to a document that looked more like a trick and its hero was Musa Faki Mohammad, the head of the African Union Commissioner, and it was done in the shadow of the silence of the majority of the union members, with the exception of Algeria. “However, South Africa and Namibia joined Algeria in condemning this violation of the African Union’s internal regulations.”
