The Committee for the Affairs of Palestinian Prisoners of War and Freedmen announced that 11 Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike in protest of the administrative detention had experienced symptoms of fatigue, joint pain and headaches.
Hassan Abd Rabeh, media adviser to the Committee for the Affairs of Palestinian Prisoners and Freedmen, said that seven to ten days after the start of the hunger strike, the prisoners showed signs of weakness.
He stressed that the strikes were aimed at focusing on the policy of administrative detention of 45 prisoners in Israeli prisons.
Captives from different cities and villages in Palestine, who are being held in various detention centers, are united in their hunger for freedom, and their weakness, weight loss, joint pain and headaches do not stop them from continuing their journey. .
Abd Rabbo called for an international campaign to put pressure on the occupying regime to release the striking prisoners.
The “empty stomach” weapon is a weapon that has already proven its effectiveness. An example of this was the Palestinian prisoner Ghazanfar Abu Atwan, who was released after a 65-day hunger strike. In addition, according to the Committee of Prisoners, 99% of the prisoners’ demands have been met after the hunger strike.
At least 5,300 Palestinian prisoners have been detained in 23 Israeli prisons and detention centers. 40 of them are women, 250 of them are children and 540 of them are in administrative detention.
Nearly 500 of these prisoners suffer from various diseases. Dozens of them are people with special needs, cancer patients and the elderly. According to the Prisoners Committee, these prisoners are being subjected to the most brutal interrogations and physical and psychological torture.
