11% increase in suicides with firearms in the United States.
The Sputnik website, the American non-governmental organization for gun safety (Everytown) announced in a report that the rate of death by suicide with firearms in the United States has increased by 11% in the last 10 years.
According to the statistics of this American organization, 7,000 people commit suicide with firearms in America every year, which has recorded a very high average of 20 suicides per day.
Therefore, according to the report, the implementation of strict laws in the field of firearms prohibition in different states of the United States did not have an effect on reducing the rate of suicide with firearms, and the average number of people who committed suicide in these states compared to other states that did not impose strict laws. It has been the same.
The American People’s Organization for Arms Safety has emphasized that the average suicide with firearms in the United States, as well as other deaths due to shooting incidents, which record nearly 24 thousand deaths in a statistical year, are preventable.
This non-governmental organization asked the American government to make more serious efforts in this field to prevent the spread of this dangerous phenomenon, whose statistics have been exponential in recent years.
