10 Egyptians were arrested in Saudi Arabia for celebrating the defeat of the Zionists on Yom Kippur.
The Saudi authorities imprisoned 10 Egyptian citizens who had organized the anniversary of the defeat of the Zionist regime in the October 1973 war in Riyadh.
News sources reported the imprisonment of several Egyptian citizens in Saudi Arabia, who are accused of organizing the anniversary of the Zionist regime’s defeat in the October 1973 war.
Euronews reported that the sentence of some of these citizens reaches 18 years. Three years ago, these people planned to hold a ceremony for the anniversary of the October 1973 war.
One of the relatives of these prisoners, who did not want to be named, said: “I am extremely angry because of the many atrocities that happened to our family.” According to him, these people are accused of forming a group without permission and forming a “terrorist group”.
Saudi authorities arrested these people in October 2019, but released them in December of the same year. Egyptian citizens were arrested again in July 2020 and are still in prison.
According to Euronews, human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, emphasize that these people should be released. The organization also said last August that the trial of these people is a “mockery of justice”.
According to the statement of this organization, Saudi Arabia tried these citizens only because of their right to freedom of speech and assembly and did not allow them to have regular contact with their families.
According to this statement, these people can only choose lawyers who are selected by the Saudi government. Of course, “some of them are also elderly and are facing diseases such as diabetes and heart disease”.
