The Council of the European Union agreed on Friday to allocate 1 billion euros to Ukraine for the purchase of weapons.
The Council of the European Union agreed on Friday to allocate one billion euros for the purchase of ammunition and weapons for Ukraine. This budget will be allocated from the “Eurofund for Peace” fund.
Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dimitri Kolba also welcomed this action of the European Union. In a Twitter message, he wrote: “I welcome the European Council’s agreement with the second part of the one billion euro aid for the joint supply of ammunition to Ukraine.” This step strengthens Ukraine’s long-term defense capabilities and makes Ukraine more flexible to defeat a Russian invasion.”
Despite Russia’s repeated warnings to Western countries to provide military support to Ukraine and send combat equipment to this country, the United States announced a new aid package for Kiev.
On Wednesday evening, while announcing the military aid of 300 million dollars to Ukraine, the US government said that this package for the first time includes short-range air-launched missiles named “Hydra-70”.
According to the Reuters news agency, this new military support is the 37th package of US aid to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s special military operation in the Donbass region in February 2022, bringing the total aid sent to $35.7 billion.
