Indian Defense Minister: We are building a nuclear missile so no country can have a bad eye on India.
Delhi wants to build missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads so that no other country would dare to look down on India, the Indian defense minister said.
India’s defense minister said on Sunday that India wants to build Brahmos missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads so that no other country would dare to look down on India.
“The Brahmos missile and other weapons and defense equipment we produce are not for attack on any other country,” Indian Defense Minister Rajnat Singh was quoted as saying by the Times India. “It is not India’s job to invade another country or take even one centimeter of each country’s territory.”
“We want to build Brahmos on Indian soil so that no country has the courage to look down on India,” he said, referring to the missile, which is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.
The Brahmos is an ultrasonic cruise missile that can be launched from a submarine, ship, aircraft or ground. This is especially one of the fastest cruise missiles in the world. It is based on the Russian cruise missile and is a joint product of Russia and India.
News sources recently reported the successful test of a surface-to-surface ballistic missile equipped with an Indian nuclear warhead with a range of 5,000 kilometers. This missile is called “Agni-5” and was fired from islands in the “Odisha” region. This solid-fuel three-stage ballistic missile is capable of attacking targets at a distance of more than five thousand kilometers with high precision accuracy.
India has said that the successful test of the Agni-5 missile is in accordance with the declared policy and has the ability to deter and commit to non-initial use.
