According to ISPR, the US Deputy Secretary of State called on Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. Mutual interest and the regional security situation were discussed during the meeting. Humanitarian issues in Afghanistan were also discussed during the meeting. Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that Pakistan is committed to all possible efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan, Pakistan fully supports the formation of a multi-party government in Afghanistan and supports all efforts for lasting peace in Afghanistan.
The Chief of Army Staff said that all parties support the Afghan government and Pakistan is committed to all possible efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan. The Chief of Army Staff stressed the need for meaningful communication between the two countries. On the occasion, the US Deputy Secretary of State appreciated Pakistan’s role in the Afghan situation and said that Pakistan’s cooperation in the successful withdrawal of foreigners from Afghanistan was invaluable and we are committed to continue working with Pakistan for regional peace.
