Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the PTI leaders to make preparations for the 2023 general elections. The Prime Minister also directed the participants of the meeting to launch a door-to-door membership campaign of PTI aimed at increasing the vote bank for the party in the next general elections.
According to the report, while presiding over a meeting, the Prime Minister said that the party should consider the forthcoming elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and all military cantonment boards as warm-up sessions for the general elections.
After the meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence in Bani Gala, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry told Dawn that “the Prime Minister wanted the party to contest the Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Cantonment Board elections with full readiness.”
The Federal Minister disclosed that the Prime Minister also directed the participants of the meeting to launch a door-to-door membership campaign of PTI aimed at expanding the party’s vote bank in the forthcoming general elections.
Replying to a question, the Information Minister said that the ruling party would soon launch a membership drive in all the four provinces and other parts of the country. All the parliamentarians of the party have been tasked to expand the party vote bank. There will also be public meetings in this regard.
The Prime Minister was of the view that the results of the next two elections would definitely have an impact on the next general election. The meeting stressed on the need to use Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the elections to avoid the possibility of electoral fraud. The meeting also expressed frustration over the opposition’s stance on non-use of EVMs.
