Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the first priority of the government is to make the people economically self-sufficient. The government has formulated a comprehensive strategy to lift the economically weaker sections out of poverty. To improve the purchasing power of the common man.
According to sources, while presiding over a high-level meeting of the ‘Successful Pakistan Program’, he cited the example of India and China, saying that China had lifted millions out of poverty in the last 30 years through such measures while India had failed. ۔
The prime minister said that “apart from providing financial assistance to the poor sections of the society, the first priority of the government is to make the people financially self-sufficient”. An adviser to Imran told the media that “the government cannot eradicate inflation.” However, it is taking steps to improve the purchasing power of the common man.
“We cannot bring prices back to their previous level but we can improve the purchasing power of the people so that inflation does not affect them,” he said. He said that various measures have been taken for this purpose as Rs. 11 trillion has been given in the form of subsidy to the farmers and agriculture sector which is benefiting 70% of the population of the country who live in rural areas.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Finance Shaukat Tareen, Special Assistants Waqar Masood, Usman Dar, Chairman New Pakistan Housing Authority Lt Gen (retd) Anwar Ali Haider, Chairman Habib Bank Sultan Ali Alana, President Punjab Bank Zafar Masood, concerned senior officials and stakeholders. The meeting was briefed on successful businesses under Successful Pakistan Program, Successful Farmers and Successful Skills Program and Low Cost Housing Schemes under Successful Pakistan Housing.
