Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed inaugurated the country’s first commercial court at Lahore Judicial Complex. Addressing on the occasion, the Chief Justice said that commercial courts are essential for the development of the country’s economy. The establishment of the Commercial Court is a revolutionary step on which he congratulated Chief Justice Lahore High Court Muhammad Qasim Khan. He said that business related cases need to be decided without delay as it has an indirect impact on the economy. ۔
To this end, the provincial government, in consultation with the Lahore High Court for the establishment of commercial courts, enacted the Punjab Commercial Courts Ordinance 2021 under the framework for ease of doing business.
Later, addressing the launch of ‘Sitters of Civil and Criminal Law’, Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed said that the development of any society is linked to the implementation of the law. He said that it was a matter of pride that courts Keep up the good content.
Lahore High Court Chief Justice Qasim Khan said that when he took office, his priorities included many things, some of which have been completed and some of which are facing delays.
He hoped that the Commercial Court would give good decisions to give the judiciary a chance to be proud. He also lauded the district courts of Punjab for handling more cases in 2020 as compared to 2019 despite the global epidemic. According to a Lahore High Court research paper, effective enforcement of contracts is essential for economic growth and sustainable growth.
The paper said that overall improvement in the performance of the judicial system could improve the business environment, accelerate innovation, and save overseas investment and tax revenues.
The Lahore High Court, headed by Chief Justice Qasim Khan and Justice Jawad Hassan, led the move to nominate judges in civil courts to identify commercial matters.
The research paper said that such measures would greatly facilitate litigation and would also improve Pakistan’s ranking in terms of contract enforcement.
