KARACHI: The biggest theft in the country’s history has come to light, it has been revealed that material worth about 10 billion rupees has been stolen from Pakistan Steel.
According to Express News, the biggest theft in the country’s history has come to light in Pakistan Steel, for which the Federal Ministry of Industry and Production has approached FIA for investigation. A letter has been written by the Federal Ministry of Industries and Production to the Director General FIA requesting a transparent and immediate investigation to bring to light the elements involved in thefts in various departments of Pakistan Steel.
The letter states that apart from various departments of Pakistan Steel, the main plant was also not safe from the access of thieves, which is not possible without the connivance of security personnel.
The internal investigation of Pakistan Steel has found evidence of involvement of senior management officers which has been provided to the FIA by the Federal Ministry of Industries and Production.
An internal inquiry is going on in Pakistan Steel, however, to prevent the management from becoming a party, it was deemed necessary that this inquiry be conducted by a federal investigative agency.
In a letter sent by the Pakistan Steel Insaf Labor Union (CBA) to the Federal Ministry of Industries and Production on July 27, 2022, it demanded immediate action and investigation to protect the national assets from looters.
The letter said that on the night of July 27, a group of robbers consisting of 50 people stormed the plant area of Pakistan Steel and looted billions of rupees worth of copper and wires with boldness and escaped. In the security department, both contract and permanent employees remain silent spectators, so it is imperative that these thefts are investigated at the highest level.
The CBA has demanded that the Federal Ministry of Industries and Production conduct an investigation against the board of directors and management along with the elements facilitating administrative and financial irregularities, negligence and organized theft in Pakistan Steel and looting the national asset. Those should be brought to the Kafir role.
It should be noted that the total value of losses, debts and liabilities of Pakistan Steel has reached 650 billion rupees by June 2022 and these losses are increasing further due to thefts of huge value.
