Islamabad :
Referring to the talks between the government of Pakistan and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said that if the Afghan Taliban were holding any talks, he did not notice that the Interior Ministry had no role in the talks.
Replying to a question during a press conference in Islamabad, he said that talks with the TTP had not even started and the Interior Ministry had no role in it.
“If the Afghan Taliban are holding any talks, it is not in my notice and it is too early to say anything about it,” he said, adding that it had nothing to do with the interior ministry. Those who will lay down their arms and believe in the constitution and law of Pakistan can be talked to, but those who are terrorists cannot be talked to.
It may be recalled that President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and even Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid have made statements regarding talks with some TTP groups and amnesty. It is facing criticism from various political and journalistic circles.)
