In the budget of the next financial year, a proposal to increase the salaries of government employees by 10 to 15 percent and pensions by 10 percent is under consideration. A meeting of the commission has been convened on Monday.
According to sources, various recommendations will be considered in the meeting chaired by the chairperson of the commission Nargis Sethi which will be submitted to the finance ministry for final approval. It is also developing short-term, medium-term and long-term plans.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar approved a 25 per cent increase in the special allowance in the salaries of government employees. A special committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister in which Provincial Ministers Raja Basharat, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Hashim Javan Bakht, Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Secretary and other officials participated.
