The Prime Minister of Pakistan has stated that we will not allow the CIA to use Pakistani territory to conduct operations in Afghanistan.
Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan told Axius that Islamabad would “no longer” allow the CIA to use bases on Pakistani soil to conduct operations in Afghanistan.
No further details have been released on the interview, but the transfer of US bases from Afghanistan to countries in the region on the eve of the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan is of particular importance to the United States in maintaining its counterterrorism and intelligence capabilities.
The Biden administration is also considering moving bases to Central Asia, but because Central Asia is Russia’s sphere of influence, building a US base in the region is complicated.
Earlier, local sources reported that the United States was building a military base in Pakistan’s Parachinar area.
Meanwhile, Assistant Secretary of Defense David Hilvey said that Pakistan had given the United States access to its airspace to support its military presence in Afghanistan.
Experts say US officials are still hoping to reach a secret agreement with the Pakistani military and intelligence services to establish a base on Pakistani soil.
