Multan:
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that India has tried to politicize the FATF forum. Now the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has to decide whether it is a technical forum or a political forum. Should have been on the whitelist.
Talking to media in Multan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that FATF said that if we follow 27 points, we will go to the white list. We have fully implemented 26 out of 27 points. Pakistan has taken action against money laundering and terror financing. Steps have been taken, then there is no justification to put Pakistan on the gray list.
He said the FATF would have to decide whether it was a technical forum or a political forum. If FATF is a technical forum then we should have been on the white list. India has tried to politicize this forum and some forces think that keeping the sword hanging over Pakistan will achieve their goals.
He said that we are moving forward on the basis of our national need and not at the behest of anyone and Pakistan will soon come out of the gray list. The Foreign Minister said that the issue of uranium seizure in India has been raised in various forums. If it had happened in Pakistan, Tawandia would have taken to the skies.
Referring to Afghanistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that if there was a civil war in Afghanistan, Pakistan could be affected by it. Pakistan could no longer bear the burden of refugees. It is believed that the Financial Action Task Force recently met after a virtual meeting. It was decided to keep Pakistan in the gray list.
