Lahore:
Following the dismissal of Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema by the Federal Government in Punjab last night, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has demanded the Supreme Court to take notice of the “blatant violation” of the Constitution and law.
In a statement, Imran Khan demanded of the High Court to take immediate notice of the blatant violation of constitution and law in Punjab.
His statement came after a statement issued by the federal government after President Arif Ali rejected a summary of the removal of the Governor of Punjab.
Imran Khan said that the imported government was promoting instability in Punjab by spreading constitutional chaos.
He said that earlier puppet rulers imposed on the province through secret election of Chief Minister, now they are humiliating the post of President keeping all constitutional requirements behind them.
The former prime minister strongly condemned the removal of the governor of Punjab, calling it a shameful attempt as he was adamant on protecting the constitution.
Imran Khan said that silence was being observed in Punjab on “blatant violation” of the Constitution, therefore the Supreme Court should take suo motu notice of the sensitivity of the issue.
Meanwhile, Omar Sarfraz Cheema has rejected the Cabinet Division’s statement regarding his dismissal, calling it “illegal”.
In a tweet, Omar Sarfraz Cheema said that the President had rejected the summary in view of “extraordinary” circumstances, despite the fact that the Cabinet Division had issued an “illegal” notification.
He said that he was consulting the constitutional experts and would soon inform them about the future course of action.
