According to details, a day after the show cause notice was issued due to failure to hold intra-party elections on time, the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) did not ignore the legal deadline. PTI Information Secretary Ahmed Jawad said the last intra-party elections were held in June 2017 and the five-year term of elected officials would expire in about a year.
He said that the notice issued to party chairman Imran Khan would be reviewed from all angles and the next course of action would be announced after reviewing the notice in the light of law.
Ahmed Jawad further said that PTI is the party which introduced intra-party elections in the country. He said that intra-party elections are an important component of PTI law and Chairman Imran Khan has a clear view on the concept of democracy in the party. It may be recalled that on July 29, the Election Commission issued a notice to Prime Minister Imran Khan for not holding intra-party elections.

According to Election Commission sources, under the Election Act, all political parties are required to hold inter-party elections on time, and the PTI had to provide details of intra-party elections on June 13, 2021 to the Election Commission, which have not yet been submitted.
