According to details, a meeting of the Economic Advisory Council was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan, in which reforms in major sectors were reviewed for economic transformation in the country. Focusing on the gas and minerals sectors, which are encouraging Pakistanis abroad to invest in priority sectors of the economy, it is imperative that reforms be accelerated to attract investors. Ensure ease of doing business, diversify exports and look for alternatives to imports.
In addition, Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed that a master plan for cities with a population of 60 million be prepared soon and principles for the maintenance of high-rise buildings be formulated. These instructions were issued by him at a meeting of the National Coordinating Committee for Housing The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers, Special Assistants and concerned senior officials. Apart from this, senior officials from all the four provinces also participated in the meeting through video link. A detailed briefing was given on the master plan of cities in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It was informed in the briefing that work is underway on master planning for 28 cities in Punjab with a population of 64.7 million. Efforts are being made to complete the process of preparation of master plan as soon as possible. Principles are being formulated for maintenance, so that people do not face difficulties after construction. Strategies have also been formulated for the protection of green areas of Zone-3. On the occasion, PM Imran Khan said that there was a need to create awareness among the people to curb the rampant spread of urban population, a comprehensive strategy for protection of green belts and prevention of natural disasters, Margalla hills and other tourist destinations. Protecting is the government’s top priority.
