Security personnel responded to the attack but 30-year-old soldier Muhammad Amir Iqbal was martyred in an exchange of fire with the terrorists. The statement said that a clearance operation was being carried out to eliminate the terrorists from the area.
It may be recalled that two days ago, four Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and a Levies sub-inspector were martyred in a terrorist attack on a security forces vehicle in Spin Wam area of North Waziristan.
Earlier on Thursday, a Pakistani army captain was martyred in an intelligence-led operation against banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The operation was carried out after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the area.
It was reported that 27-year-old Captain Sikandar from Pakpattan was martyred during the exchange of fire.
The statement further said that the terrorist commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban Khawaja Din alias Sher Khan was also killed in the exchange of fire while arms and ammunition were also recovered from the hideout of the terrorists.
