Islamabad : Pakistani media today (Thursday) widely reported the United States’ renewed frustration with Islamic Iran following the failure of a US-led piracy operation in the Oman Sea and the courageous action of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to prevent the hijacking of an Iranian tanker.
The Express Tribune reported that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards announced yesterday (Wednesday) that it had thwarted US efforts to seize an oil tanker carrying oil from the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Oman Sea.
The report states: “According to a statement issued by the Iranian state media, with the timely and authoritative action of the IRGC navy, the US Navy terrorist operation to steal Iranian oil in the Oman Sea failed.”
The Tribune claimed that tensions between Tehran and Washington had risen amid a halt in talks to revive Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers.
The English-language newspaper Dawn, published in the city of Islamabad, also quoted the official Iranian media as saying: “With the timely and authoritative action of the IRGC navy, the US operation to steal Iranian oil in the Oman Sea failed.”
The website of the Urdu-language network “Dunya News” reported that the Iranian forces thwarted the American operations to seize an Iranian tanker and the attempt to steal oil by the American forces failed.
The Americans tried to retake the tanker, but they were defeated for the second time by the Iranian navy, the source said.
