In a meeting between Army Chief General Qamar Javed and Iranian Chief of General Staff, it was agreed to enhance defense cooperation. The Army Chief said that Pakistan and Iran are two brotherly countries and common enemies will take joint action against terrorism.
According to ISPR, an Iranian delegation led by Iranian Chief of General Staff Mohammad Baqeri visited GHQ Rawalpindi. A guard of honor was presented to the Iranian Chief of General Staff. The staff laid flowers at the memorial and offered prayers for the martyrs of the Iranian Chief of General Staff.
The issue of erection of fence on Pak-Iran border was also discussed during the meeting. It was agreed to enhance defense cooperation and work together for regional peace and stability. Issues related to the situation in Afghanistan were also discussed on the occasion. ۔ The Iranian delegation was briefed on cooperation with friendly countries and joint military exercises. The Iranian Major General expressed his desire to cooperate in counter-terrorism and training matters.
