ISLAMABAD: DG FIA Mohsin Hasan Butt says that one of the four shooters who fired at Arshad Sharif was not allowed to meet with us.
In an interview with the American Broadcasting Corporation, DGFIA Mohsen Hasan Butt said that the Kenyan police are sure to be involved in the target killing of journalist Arshad Sharif.
He said the Kenyan police refused to produce one of the four officers before Pakistani investigators. This officer was among those who fired at Arshad Sharif. This officer’s hand was injured two weeks ago. It is strange not to give the officer access because his statement would have been important.
The DG FIA further said that the Pakistani investigation team interrogated the three Kenyan police shooters. The statements of the three shooters were starkly inconsistent and illogical. The next step is to register Arshad Sharif’s death case with the FIA within Pakistan under Section IV of the Extradition Act. This entry will be on the orders of the federal government.
According to DG FIA, the Kenyan police are bound by international law to cooperate in the investigation of the journalist’s brutal murder. The investigation of the joint team is still inconclusive and the team will go to the UAE very soon.
