On the other hand, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said that the members of the Assembly had a meeting with the Prime Minister, in which all the members who had conveyed their petitions on the issue of Jahangir Tareen to the Prime Minister were discussed in detail.
Fawad Chaudhry said that Jahangir Tareen has a lot of work to do for the party but the party which came into existence on the basis of justice and its aim is that we will be held accountable and there will be equal accountability then it cannot do it in any way. That there should be another standard of justice for his people and another for others and the Prime Minister reiterated this principle.
Referring to the Prime Minister, he said that the Prime Minister had said in the meeting that under no circumstances would the FIA or any other agency be pressured to relax the investigation against anyone and that it would seem to be affected has been tried.
He said that the Prime Minister would not be able to influence the FIA investigation, but nominated Senator Ali Zafar for those members who complained that some personalities were deliberately trying to defame Jahangir Tareen. We will review both sides of this case and submit a report to the Prime Minister.
Fawad Chaudhry said that Ali Zafar would inform him about the report but the demands of justice on investigation and other matters would be met and what the rest of the people have faced from the authorities would also be here.
It may be recalled that Malik Noman Ahmad Langarial, a dynamic leader of the Jahangir Tareen group, had said that the Prime Minister had finally accepted the request of the parliamentarians and invited 31 people who had signed the letter to meet him. ۔
“We consider this meeting important and hope that all their concerns, that Jahangir Tareen will not be victimized by the state institutions, will be seriously considered,” he said.
Earlier, sympathetic members of Jahangir Tareen’s Punjab and National Assembly had come forward when various cases were registered against him and he had gone to appear before the accountability court.
Raja Riaz had demanded that the Prime Minister give him time to express his concerns as he believed that Jahangir Tareen was being targeted.
Raja Riaz had threatened the Prime Minister to change his mind or he would be forced to take action on his own. He had said that we in the ‘State of Madinah’ are humbly requesting that we be given justice and we don’t need anything else.
In the sugar scandal, Jahangir Tareen had claimed that the allegations in the FIR against him were not criminal in nature and came under the preview of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
He had said that all his businesses were inspected during the PML-N government and investigators did not see any illegal activity.
