Islamabad :
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Finance Minister Miftah Isael said that prices of petroleum products were not increasing in the country.
“Rising oil and other commodity prices will be a burden on the people. I and my prime minister are not in favor of imposing a burden on the people. I am going to meet the IMF again. We will find a way to the middle.
He said that Shaukat Tareen had promised to end subsidy from IMF but we will not increase the price of petrol but will provide relief to the people and resolve issues with IMF amicably. Miftah Ismail said that 4 years ago when we left the government, we used to export wheat, the PTI government exported sugar and also imported expensively. The production of sugarcane, wheat and cotton has declined in his time but this year again we will export wheat.
“Are there any suspects in food security?” He asked. Has urea been smuggled? Many people are involved in urea smuggling. This smuggling is not possible without Punjab government. Wheat was also smuggled from Pakistan. If we cannot fix agriculture then the country cannot move forward. Besides, on the statement of PTI leader Asad Umar regarding the current state of the country’s economy, Finance Minister Miftah Ismail said that the economic situation was taken to a dangerous level, we are trying to improve the economy, in 71 years. 80% of all loans were taken by PTI government, the lowest production of cotton since 1983 and 1984. When we left the government in 2018, we were exporting wheat and sugar. PTI stopped import of sugar and wheat.
