The Home Minister has revealed that despite issuing a warning last night, the tourists quarreled with the police for going to Murree in the morning. The Rangers had to be called in to compel the police to create difficulties for the large number of tourists. It was not expected that such a large number of people would turn to Murree.
According to details, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed while talking to private TV channel Geo News said that despite issuing warning last night and urging not to turn towards Murree, tourists continued their journey towards Murree. A large number of people quarreled with the police to prevent them from dying.
The Rangers had to be called in to compel the police to create difficulties for the large number of tourists. The morale of the police is down. People do not care about the law. The Dakha minister further said that it was not expected that such a large number of people would turn to Murree. People lit heaters in their vehicles which led to deaths.
We said yesterday that there is a lot of rush so don’t die, but no one listened. The Home Minister said that the roads would be cleared in the next one and a half to two hours. He said that he was monitoring the situation in the control room. On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar has said that all the families and citizens trapped in Murree area have been shifted to government rest houses and hotels and their needs including medicines, food and warm clothes are being met.
According to police records, there were 33,745 vehicles entering Murree till last night out of which 33,373 vehicles have been evacuated. He said that the expressway is completely clear, the traffic on the old GT road is also slow and the work of removing snow and trees from the road from Kaldana to Barian is in progress, all the management of Rawalpindi division is present in the rescue operation. ۔
It should be noted that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar was present at the PTI organizational meeting when he left the meeting and reached Murree on the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan. On the other hand, the IG Motorway Police in its message has instructed to open the windscreen of the vehicles in case of any engine getting stuck in the snow in Murree.
