Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that if there is peace and stability in Afghanistan, the whole region will benefit and if Afghanistan is left alone, it will be to the detriment of all. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi recently visited Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and He returned home from a visit to Iran, where he met with the heads of state and foreign ministers of those countries and briefed them on Pakistan’s position on Afghanistan.
In his statement on the situation in Afghanistan on Saturday, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that during his four-nation visit, he had the opportunity to know their views on Afghanistan in meetings with the leadership and the thinking of the neighboring countries was realistic.
He said that if the situation in Afghanistan deteriorated, everyone would be affected while peace and stability in Afghanistan would benefit the entire region.
“The people of Afghanistan want peace, they are suffering from the mistakes of the past, but we all have to learn from the past and not repeat it,” he said.
The Foreign Minister further said that if a positive message is coming from Afghanistan, it should be encouraged and if Afghanistan is left alone, it will be to the detriment of all.
He said that Pakistan’s conciliatory role in the Afghanistan issue was appreciated and in the ongoing evacuation process in Kabul, Pakistan was also assisting in the evacuation of diplomatic staff of different countries.
He said that PIA has played an important role in this situation and people are expressing confidence in Pakistan and thanking it.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that India was at the forefront of disturbing peace in Afghanistan and was taking negative action against Pakistan.
“India has linked various groups to terrorism and is bent on destroying peace in the region. There are concerns and we have to be careful,” he said.
“We have not closed our border with Afghanistan and steps have been taken for border management,” he said. It has also asked for a review of the decision.
