ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi approved the Narcotics Control Bill 2022, which proposes death or life imprisonment for crimes related to illegal drugs.
President Dr. Arif Alvi has approved the Narcotics Control (Amendment) Bill 2022 under Article 75 of the Constitution, which prescribes death or life imprisonment for crimes related to illegal drugs, heroin, morphine. , will be given on different amounts of narcotics and drugs including cocaine and ice.
After the President’s assent, this bill has become the Narcotics Control (Amendment) Act, 2022, in the light of which the offense of possession of 4 kg or more of heroin or morphine is subject to imprisonment for more than 20 years and a fine of more than 1 million rupees. There will be a penalty.
Crimes involving 6 kg or more of heroin or morphine are punishable by death or life imprisonment with a fine of 15 to 20 lakh rupees, while 5 kg or more of cocaine is punishable by death or 20 years with imprisonment of up to 25 years and there will be a fine of more than 10 lac rupees.
According to the amendment act, offenses involving 4 kg or more of ice shall be punishable with death or life imprisonment with a fine not exceeding Rs.25 lakh and if the offense is committed in or near a school, college, university, or educational institution. This offense carries a maximum penalty.
