ISLAMABAD: The power crisis in the country has become serious, the power shortfall has reached 7,674 MW.
According to Power Division sources, the demand for electricity has increased to a record level due to extreme heat, which has led to a shortfall of 7,674 MW.
The total demand for electricity in the country has reached 29,900 MW while the total power generation is 22,226 MW. Sources said that the duration of load shedding in urban areas has exceeded 14 hours and the duration of load shedding in rural areas has exceeded 18 hours.

Power Division sources said that the country generated 5,625 MW from water, 1,327 MW from government thermal plants, 11,500 MW from private sector power plants, 1,235 MW from wind power plants and 122 MW from solar plants.
