Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the OIC Summit is very important for the survival of Afghanistan. OIC stands with the Afghan people on the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan. Pakistan is doing more than it can handle.
Addressing the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Islamabad, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the OIC’s confidence in Pakistan was welcome for such an extraordinary meeting.
The Foreign Minister said that half of the Afghan population is suffering from food shortage, many things are responsible for the situation in Afghanistan, the OIC meeting is being held again in Pakistan after 1980. The OIC stands with the Afghan people on the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan.
He said that the international community should go beyond all issues and move forward to help the Afghan people, the situation in Afghanistan has changed since August, the OIC meeting is very important for the survival of Afghanistan.
The Foreign Minister said that the facts in Afghanistan cannot be ignored, the situation in Afghanistan is deteriorating due to the economic crisis, the banking system must be activated to deal with the economic crisis, further economic crisis could worsen the situation in Afghanistan.
He said that Pakistan was doing more than it could for Afghanistan, providing 3 30 million in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and conveying the message to the Afghan people through the meeting that we are united and with them. The Foreign Minister said that investment in education and other sectors in Afghanistan and the restoration of frozen assets at the United Nations should be emphasized, and the security of the Afghan people should be ensured.
