ISLAMABAD: The federal government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced the provision of modern urban infrastructure zone to Karachi under C-Pack. According to reports, the announcement was made by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs.
The project will be constructed with direct Chinese investment in partnership with KPT. The 3.5 billion project will provide a modern urban infrastructure zone to Karachi.
Releasing details of the project on social networking site Twitter, Federal Minister for Coastal Affairs Ali Zaidi said the project would be a game changer for Pakistan as both at the 10th Joint Cooperation Committee meeting on C-Pack in Islamabad and Beijing. Countries have agreed to include Karachi Coastal Comprehensive Development Zone in the C-Pack Framework. The project will reclaim 640 acres of swampy land west of Karachi Port where the project will be constructed with direct Chinese investment in partnership with KPT.
In his statement, he said that this important project to be constructed with the help of China would be connected to Karachi through a Harbor Bridge. The project also includes the construction of a water treatment plant on the Lyari River. The provision of low cost housing facility under the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan is also part of the KCCDZ project to rehabilitate 20,000 families in the adjoining areas. Settlement will be made.
Ali Zaidi said that in this eco-friendly project, four new berths will also be added at Karachi Port, which will increase the capacity of Pakistan’s growing maritime sector. Is also part of the project, which will increase Pakistan’s trade potential. The project will improve the marine ecosystem as well as reduce marine pollution.
