Islamabad :
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has warned all Pakistani-origin migrants living outside Pakistan to refrain from spreading chaos in Pakistan while abroad and to refrain from aggressive social media posts and sedition.
The 7-point press release issued by the FIA spokesperson advised Pakistanis living abroad to study the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 to ensure that their social media posts are not against the law.
The press release said that a red notice could be issued through Interpol for the arrest of such persons in case of violation. This warning is for the law breakers. Earlier, the spokesperson had launched an inquiry into the broadcast of anti-state videos and statements on various social media platforms against anchorperson Sami Ibrahim. The allegations are a clear attempt to incite the armed forces to revolt.
The spokesman said that Sami Ibrahim has tried to spread chaos in Pakistan through the media while living abroad. He has an opportunity to defend himself in the inquiry and if he succeeds in defending himself, the inquiry will be closed if If found guilty, a case will be registered against him through FIR and when possible, he will be arrested and tried in court. The spokesman said that since he was abroad, a red notice would be issued against him through Interpol and his name would be added to the ECL.
