ISLAMABAD: The 48th meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, hosted by Pakistan, is underway in which atrocities in Palestine and Kashmir have been condemned.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is presiding over the meeting. Foreign ministers of OIC member states and representatives of observer countries are present.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Jiechi is attending the meeting as a special guest. Senior representatives of OIC non-member countries, United Nations, Arab League and Gulf Cooperation are also attending the conference.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will address the inaugural meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers. The theme of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting is Unity, Justice and Development.
OIC Secretary General
OIC Secretary General Hussein Ibrahim Taha expressed concern over the situation in Yemen, saying that there was a humanitarian crisis in Yemen and that Houthi attacks on the civilian population in Saudi Arabia were highly reprehensible.
He said that Israel is involved in genocide of Palestinians, occupying their lands and committing atrocities, Kashmir issue has been unresolved for a long time. Is in a referendum under the will of the United Nations and resolutions.
Foreign Minister of Niger
Addressing the gathering, Nigerian Foreign Minister Hassumi Masood said that the focus was on building the role of youth in eradicating extremism in Africa and other regions. And an effective voice was raised on Palestine, various meetings of the groups were held but no significant progress has been made which needs attention.
Kazakhstan

In his speech, Moroccan Foreign Minister Osman Al-Jurandi called for support for a peaceful political solution to the regional conflict. Nigeria
The Nigerian Foreign Minister said in his address that he hoped the OIC would show solidarity with the refugees.
Distinguished guests of the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting will also participate in the Pakistan Day Parade on March 23.
The OIC is the second largest international organization in the world after the United Nations and has 57 Muslim countries around the world. Meetings are held every year to review the implementation of OIC decisions. Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Afghanistan, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia, Palestine, Morocco and Nigeria are the core members.
The OIC Council of Foreign Ministers has held 47 meetings and Pakistan has hosted four OIC meetings in 1970, 1980, 1993 and 2007.
