ISLAMABAD: Ahead of the arrival of Ramadan, after ghee, sugar has also been hiked in utility stores.
Under the Prime Minister’s package, the price of sugar sold at utility stores was increased by Rs 2 per kg, after which the price of subsidized sugar at utility stores was increased from Rs 89 to Rs 91 per kg. The sugar price hike will be implemented immediately. There has been no increase in the price of sugar for Benazir Income Support persons.
According to the spokesperson of Utility Stores, the reason why sugar is expensive is the increase in GST tax by Rs.2. Sugar is currently Rs 105 per kg in the market.
