KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has suspended the decision of Judicial Magistrate Sharqi on the post-mortem of renowned anchor person Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain.
The court has issued restraining order regarding the postmortem of Amir Liaquat Hussain while notices have also been issued to the Secretary Health and Medical Board.
The petition was filed by the son and daughter of the deceased and the petition for immediate hearing was granted by the Sindh High Court. A two-member bench of the court heard the petition.
The petition sought stay of post-mortem of Dr Amir Liaqat in which Medical Board, Health Department, SSP East and others were made parties.
According to the petitioner, the request for postmortem of Amir Liaquat was filed in the Magistrate Eastern Court for gaining fame. After the refusal of the heirs of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, their postmortem was also not conducted and Benazir Bhutto’s assassination was also a high profile case.
The Sindh High Court has adjourned further hearing of the case till June 29.
Talking to media after the hearing, Amir Liaquat’s daughter, son, ex-wife and his lawyer Zia Awan said that Benazir Bhutto and Liaquat Ali Khan also did not have autopsy, we think that the cause of depression. Has died and we will file a separate case against those who caused depression. Dania Shah and her family will be approached by the FIA and other agencies for action.
It may be recalled that on June 20, Judicial Magistrate Eastern Minister Hussain Memon had written a letter to the Health Secretary ordering that a medical board be constituted for the postmortem of renowned anchor Amir Liaquat Hussain.
Earlier, on June 18, Abdul Ahad, a citizen, had applied for an autopsy of well-known anchor Amir Liaquat Hussain. Which was approved by the court.
