Islamabad:
President Arif Alawi has accepted the resignation of Shehzad Akbar as his advisor, saying that Barrister Shehzad Akbar, an adviser to Prime Minister Imran Khan on Accountability and Admission, had resigned from his post a long time ago.
According to details, the resignation of Shehzad Akbar as Home and Accountability Advisor has been accepted from January 24. After the approval of the President, the Cabinet Division has issued a notification. In a statement issued on Twitter, Shahzad Akbar confirmed his resignation and said that he had submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister as Accountability Advisor.
He had said that he would remain associated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and would also continue to serve as a lawyer. Khan had asked Shahzad Akbar for details of cases in the courts. The details given by Shahzad Akbar to the Prime Minister were incomplete. There was a clear discrepancy between the briefing given to the Prime Minister and the documents.
Sources also said that there was a discrepancy between the timelines of the cases reported to the Prime Minister, the current status of the cases and the briefing given to the Prime Minister, after which the Prime Minister became angry with them. ۔
