Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed former Prime Minister and Chairman PTI Imran Khan to provide foolproof security.
According to a statement issued by the media wing of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing by the Interior Ministry on Imran Khan’s security.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to provide best security to the former prime minister in all respects. He also issued orders to immediately provide Chief Security Officer to Imran Khan.
The Prime Minister also directed all the provincial governments to provide security to Chairman PTI Imran Khan during meetings and processions.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Home Ministry spokesman confirmed in a statement that foolproof security arrangements were being made for Imran Khan in the light of the Prime Minister’s instructions.
The spokesman said police and other law enforcement agencies had been asked to fully implement the deployment of security forces assigned to the former prime minister.
He said that 94 police and FC personnel have been deployed for the security of Imran Khan’s Bani Gala House, including 22 Islamabad police and 72 FC personnel.
The spokesman said that 26 personnel of SMS Security Company and 9 personnel of Military Security Company were also in charge of security of Bani Gala House.
In addition, 36 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police and six Gilgit-Baltistan police personnel have been deployed by their respective governments for the security of the former prime minister.
It was further informed that during the journey of former Prime Minister Imran Khan outside the capital Islamabad, 4 vehicles and 23 personnel of Islamabad Police, while a vehicle of Ranger and 5 personnel are present with him at all times.
According to the spokesperson, the ‘Threat Assessment Committee’ under the auspices of the Interior Ministry is continuously reviewing the security issues of the former Prime Minister.
The interior ministry said former prime minister Imran Khan had been told that if he had any specific information, he should share it with the interior ministry so that further security arrangements could be made for him.
The statement further said that as the former Prime Minister, it was his responsibility to inform the Ministry of Home Affairs and other concerned agencies about the possible dangers to his life, conspiracy and other issues. The Interior Ministry will take further steps in the light of information and evidence obtained from former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
