Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered immediate action on the catastrophe caused by the discharge of water from Sheshapar Glacier. The Prime Minister has expressed sympathy and regret over the losses to the affected families.
According to details, in a statement, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed to ensure safety of lives and property of the people and evacuation of citizens to safer places. Give full support to the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan, in addition to the destruction of agricultural and drinking water system and 2 power plants are estimated to be affected.
It was informed that the Prime Minister, while demanding a report on the losses and affected people, ordered the rehabilitation of 700 and 250 MW power plants on war footing. He said that the cost of rehabilitation and repair of power plants would be borne by the federal government. , Will take all possible steps to provide full emergency assistance and rehabilitation to the affected people.
It may be recalled that the discharge of water from the lake formed in Sheshpar Glacier in Hassanabad area of Hunza Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan caused havoc. After the collapse of the bridge in Hassanabad, 22 houses were evacuated. The discharge of water had started from the lake formed in Sheshpar Glacier in Abad. Due to continuous rise in water level, the Hassanabad Bridge on Karakoram Highway collapsed. Destroyed, two power plants have also been affected. The collapse of Hassanabad bridge has affected a part of Karakoram highway which has been closed for traffic.
According to Deputy Commissioner Hunza Usman Ali, agricultural and drinking water systems in Baaliabad city and Hassanabad villages have been destroyed. These houses have been evacuated and evacuated, small vehicles are passing through Shahra-e-Nagar, water discharge has been reduced, a temporary bridge will be constructed after the water recedes.
