Several petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court to stop voting on the no-confidence motion till the investigation of the ‘threatening letter’, in which a judicial commission has been set up to investigate the letter in the style of Memogate. Advocate Naeem-ul-Hassan filed the petition through Attorney General Anwar Mansoor and Advocate Azhar Siddique. The petition has been filed in the Supreme Court under Article 184/3 of the Constitution.
The petition said that the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan is an international conspiracy, therefore action against the no-confidence motion should be stopped.
The petition states that conspirators against the Prime Minister fall into the category of treason. Various TV anchors had already mentioned the no-confidence motion. Secret meetings were held with Nawaz Sharif in London where the conspiracy was hatched.
Petitioner Naeem-ul-Hassan Advocate has requested to stop the proceedings of no-confidence motion and said that a commission of inquiry should be formed on the basis of memogate, a commission of inquiry consisting of 3 judges of the Supreme Court should be constituted and hearings should be held on daily basis. ۔
The petitioner requested that an order be issued to suspend voting on the no-confidence motion pending an inquiry. This is a sensitive and urgent matter and should be heard today.
The petition lists the federal government, the prime minister’s office, the foreign ministry, the interior ministry, the law ministry and the defense ministry as parties.
The Speaker National Assembly, Election Commission, FIA, PTI, PML-N, Pakistan Peoples Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and MQM are also parties in the petition.
The second petition regarding the matter was filed by female petitioner Azra Durrani.
The petition termed the no-confidence motion as an external conspiracy and requested the court to stop the no-confidence motion.
Earlier, Advocate Zulfiqar Bhatta had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking an inquiry, which was accepted for hearing today.
The petition asks the Supreme Court to order an inquiry into the letter shown by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The petition states that the alleged threatening letter is a very sensitive and serious matter, urgent intervention is required to get the people out of mental stress, threatening letter should be sent to the concerned civil and military leadership for investigation.
It may be recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan, while addressing a rally at the Parade Ground in Islamabad on March 27, had taken a ‘letter’ out of his pocket accusing the opposition of a no-confidence motion against the government. The country is trying to change the government with the help of money from abroad.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said that we have been threatened in writing. On this occasion, the Prime Minister took out a letter from his pocket, waved it in front of the people and put it back without reading it.
