North Waziristan:
According to a statement released by ISPR, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Mir Ali district of North Waziristan in which 2 terrorists were killed.
During the operation, there was a fierce exchange of fire between the security forces and the terrorists, as a result of which 2 terrorists including the terrorist commander Khabib alias Bilal of Hafiz Gul Bahadur group were killed.
According to the statement of ISPR, arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the dead terrorists.
The statement said that the slain terrorists were active in terrorist activities against security forces, manufacture of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and killing of innocent civilians.
Terrorist commander Khabib was also involved in a suicide attack on a convoy of security forces in Mir Ali in August 2022.
It should be noted that there has been a resurgence of terrorist activities in North Waziristan in the recent past after which the security forces have launched an operation there to rid the area of the menace of terrorism.
This week also on August 15, security forces conducted a secret operation based on intelligence information in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, as a result of which a terrorist was killed and heavy weapons were recovered from his possession.
On August 4, a terrorist was killed during a covert operation by the security forces while a soldier was martyred during the exchange of fire.
On August 9, 4 soldiers were martyred in a suicide attack on an army convoy in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan.
On August 13, another soldier of the Pakistan Army was martyred in Lower Dir district of North Waziristan.
In North Waziristan, members of the Usmanzai tribe staged a sit-in protest against the unrest and target killings, demanding that the government take control of the rapidly deteriorating situation.
The government had formed a 16-member political committee to negotiate with the elders of the Usmanzai clan and after successful negotiations, the protestors announced the suspension of the dharna and protest for two weeks.
